Teacher Jack

The third day was when we finally got to go to John F Kennedy School and put our knowledge to work. The day started bright and early with a walk through the town filled with roosters crowing and goats crossing. At the school, we divided into three groups to teach grades preschool through fifth as much English as we could. Between our navigating through masses of excited children and struggling to clarify instructions, the morning teaching was definitely a new experience. A quick debrief and lunch break later, we headed to the Outreach360 Literacy Center ready to teach again. This time, with a little experience under our belt, we all thought the teaching went more efficiently as the kids knew a lot more English and seemed really excited to learn. We finished off the teaching with a big group song and bid the kids farewell. After a delicious dinner, we experienced a quick Dominican Republic history lesson before we got to visit the local shops and discover Monte Christi even further. We are all currently prepped and mostly ready to take on another day of teaching.
